Afrikaans First Additional Language, online

Many English-home learners must take Afrikaans FAL and their parents cannot help with homework. We make it clear, calm and doable.

Who it is for

Learners in Grade 8 to 12 at CAPS and IEB schools, and homeschool learners, who take Afrikaans as a First Additional Language and want to feel less afraid of it.

Lessons by paper

In Grade 10 to 12 the written exam has three papers. We can work on any of them.

  • Paper 1, Language in context. Reading comprehension, summary and language structures and conventions.
  • Paper 2, Literature. The prescribed novel, drama, short stories and poetry.
  • Paper 3, Writing. The essay, the longer transactional text and the short transactional text.

Our post on how Paper 1 is marked shows where the marks are.

How lessons run

  • One-to-one, 30 minutes, R160.
  • Five lessons for R750, ten for R1,400.

Want a full hour? Book two lessons with a 15 minute break between them. It is a feature, not a workaround: children concentrate better in 30 minute blocks, and the break lets them reset.
