Lesson terms

These terms are between Pen in Hand ("we", "us") and the parent or account holder ("you").

1. Online lessons

All lessons are one-to-one and held online, on the Pen in Hand platform. A lesson is 30 minutes. You need a device with a camera, a microphone and a stable internet connection.

2. Lesson tokens

Lessons are paid for up front in prepaid lesson tokens that you buy on the platform. A booking uses one token. We never owe you money and you never owe us money. If you have no token, you cannot book.

3. Cancelling

If you cancel 24 hours or more before a lesson starts, the token is returned to your account. If you cancel later than that, or you do not attend, the token is forfeited. If the tutor cancels, the token is always returned.

4. Expiry

Tokens expire 6 months after the date you bought them. Tokens that have expired cannot be used.

5. Refunds

Refunds are given as tokens, not as cash, except at the tutor's discretion.

6. Payments

You pay on PayFast's secure page. We never see your card details. Payments appear as LvN Digital on your bank statement.

7. The free assessment

The free 15-minute assessment is the only lesson that is not paid for.

8. Recordings and safety

Lessons may be recorded and recordings are kept for 90 days. See safety and trust.
